History & Significance

Warkworth's magnificent keep was one of the finest Percy strongholds. Its capture in 1405 forced the Earl of Northumberland into Scottish exile, though he would return to be killed at Bramham Moor in 1408. Henry IV systematically demolished Percy power in the northeast
