Hugh Bigod's main stronghold at Framlingham was besieged by royal forces during the suppression of the revolt. Though the castle was strong, Henry II's swift military response after returning from France left Bigod unable to resist. He surrendered and his castles were confiscated. The siege demonstrated Henry II's capacity for rapid and effective military action.
