The Battle

History & Significance

Llywelyn ap Gruffudd forces Gruffudd ap Gwenwynwyn of Powys Wenwynwyn to submit, taking homage from him as the last significant Welsh prince outside his control. This gives Llywelyn genuine overlordship of all native Wales on the eve of the Treaty of Montgomery negotiations. Gruffudd remains a resentful vassal who later conspires against Llywelyn.
