History & Significance

After the death of Richard Cameron at Airds Moss, the surviving Cameronians were pursued across the moors. Several further skirmishes occurred as the dragoons hunted down the survivors. The remnant Cameronians continued their defiance, issuing further declarations and maintaining armed resistance, albeit in ever-smaller groups, through the 1680s.
