History & Significance

After Naseby, Fairfax's New Model Army besieged Bristol. Rupert, believing the city indefensible, surrendered before being seriously invested. An enraged Charles I stripped him of all his commands; the quarrel between uncle and nephew became public and damaging to Royalist morale.
