A minor skirmish near Aboyne on Deeside between a royalist Gordon party and Covenanting forces during the First Bishops War. The Gordons under Viscount Aboyne attempted to resist Covenanting penetration of the Gordon heartland but were unable to concentrate sufficient force for effective resistance.
