History & Significance

The MacKintosh chiefs of Clan Chattan repeatedly raided Cameron territory in Lochaber over disputed lands and superiority rights. The Camerons of Lochiel consistently resisted MacKintosh claims to feudal superiority over their lands. This raid was one of many such incursions repelled by Cameron counteraction. The dispute over superiority was not settled until the seventeenth century.
