The Battle

History & Significance

Huntingdon, Cromwell home town, was a Parliamentary garrison and Eastern Association administrative centre. Royalist cavalry from the Midlands probed toward Huntingdon in 1643 and clashed with Parliamentary horse on the approaches to the town. The engagements around Huntingdon helped establish Parliamentary dominance of the Cambridge-Peterborough corridor.
