The Battle

History & Significance

Henry Beaumont had been the mastermind behind Dupplin Moor and the Disinherited invasion. Andrew of Moray cornered him in Dundarg Castle on the Buchan coast and besieged him. The isolated position could not be relieved and Beaumont eventually surrendered. His ransom and the destruction of his base at Dundarg effectively ended the Disinherited threat in the north-east. The engagement was part of the broader Scottish recovery that followed the nadir of Halidon Hill.
