History & Significance

Loseley House near Guildford in Surrey, seat of the More-Molyneux family, was used by the Parliamentary county committee as an administrative base and garrison in 1642-43. Surrey was firmly Parliamentary but faced raids from Royalist Hampshire and skirmishing along the county borders.
