History & Significance

Following the destruction of MacDougall power at the Pass of Brander in 1308, Clan Donald raided the remaining MacDougall heartlands around Dunollie. The MacDougalls had backed the wrong side in the Wars of Independence and were steadily stripped of their Argyll territories. This raid accelerated the transfer of power from MacDougall to MacDonald in the west.
