The Battle

History & Significance

While Edward II besieged Berwick in 1319, Scottish forces conducted operations to intercept English supply ships and harassment raids against English supply columns by land. The combined pressure of the garrison's resistance, the supply interdiction, and most decisively the Battle of Myton — which forced Edward to abandon the siege — showed how Bruce coordinated different elements of warfare to achieve strategic effect.
