Outcome
Royalist-held Flint Castle, garrisoned under Sir Roger Mostyn, was besieged from June 1646 by Parliamentarian forces (a committee of officers including Captain Richard Price and Lieutenant-Colonels George Twisleton and Thomas Mason). After nearly three months, with supplies exhausted and desertions weakening the garrison, Mostyn surrendered on negotiated terms and marched out with the honours of war at the end of August 1646. The castle was later ordered slighted (1647), though the Great Tower survived to serve as the county jail.
