The site comprises two stone hut circle settlements, extensive cairnfields with associated cairns, and a warren, indicating a palimpsest of pastoral and possibly domestic activity from prehistoric times through to the medieval period. The hut circles represent domestic settlement of the Bronze Age or later prehistoric periods, whilst the cairnfields and discrete cairns served burial, territorial, and clearance functions. The warren demonstrates medieval exploitation of the moorland resource, indicating the site's continued value for subsistence and economic purposes well into the historic period.
