Auld Hill is a fort located on the Ayrshire coast near Portencross in south-western Scotland. The site is protected as a scheduled monument by Historic Environment Scotland. The fort is constructed upon bedrock belonging to the Arbuthnott-Garvock Group, a geological formation of Pragian age comprising sandstone with subordinate layers of conglomerate, siltstone and mudstone that provides the underlying foundation for this promontory location.
The fort dates to the Iron Age and represents one of a series of fortified settlements constructed during this period along the Scottish coast. Its position near Portencross would have provided commanding views across the Firth of Clyde and access to maritime resources.
