Bargatton Farm cairn is a prehistoric burial monument located in Kirkcudbrightshire, in the southwest of Scotland. The cairn stands on bedrock of the Hawick Group, a formation of wacke dating to the Wenlock period of the Silurian, which provides a foundation of hard, greyish-brown sedimentary rock typical of this region. The monument is protected as a scheduled monument by Historic Environment Scotland under reference SM1002.
Cairns of this type were constructed during the Bronze Age and often served as burial monuments, with stones heaped over inhumed or cremated remains. The wacke bedrock beneath Bargatton Farm would have provided readily available stone for construction, making it a practical location for monument building.
