Trostrie Mote is a medieval motte situated in Kirkcudbrightshire, south-west Scotland. The monument consists of an earthen mound typical of Norman or early medieval fortification, constructed to support a timber palisade and defensive structure on its summit. Such mottes formed part of the strategic network of lordly strongholds established across Scotland during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, serving administrative and defensive functions for local landholders. The site's survival as an upstanding earthwork preserves evidence of early medieval settlement patterns and fortification strategies in the region.
