Barmekin of Echt is a univallate fort occupying the summit of Barmekin Hill in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The monument sits on an outcrop of felsic igneous rock formed during the Early Devonian period, whose natural strength would have enhanced the defensive qualities of the site. The fort comprises a single defensive rampart encircling the hilltop, a characteristic design of Iron Age fortified settlements in north-east Scotland.
