Brownsbank Enclosure is a post-medieval field boundary system situated approximately 300 metres south-east of Stirkfield Farm in Lanarkshire, Scotland. The site comprises earthwork remains characteristic of early modern agricultural organisation, reflecting the period of systematic land division and enclosure that became prevalent across Scotland from the sixteenth century onwards. The enclosure takes the form of linear banks and associated ditches marking former field boundaries, typical of the landscape improvements undertaken during the post-medieval period. Such features represent the transition from open field systems to enclosed, individually managed holdings, a process that substantially reshaped the rural character of central Scotland during this era.
