Cairn Avel is a prehistoric burial cairn located approximately 800 metres south of Carsphairn in Kirkcudbrightshire, south-west Scotland. The monument dates to the Neolithic or Bronze Age period, representing an important example of funerary architecture from Scotland's early prehistoric communities. The cairn consists of a stone mound constructed over a burial deposit, characteristic of cairn-building traditions in this region during the third to second millennia BC.
