Cairnhill is a post-medieval palisaded enclosure and timber house located approximately 220 metres north-north-east of Cairnhill in Ayrshire, Scotland. The site comprises the remains of a timber-built dwelling surrounded by a defensive palisade, representing domestic settlement patterns of the post-medieval period in south-western Scotland. The palisaded enclosure and associated timber structure reflect the transitional period between medieval and early modern building traditions in the region, when such fortified domestic arrangements were employed by landholding families.
