Camelon Roman forts is a complex of Roman military installations located in Stirlingshire, Scotland, positioned on bedrock of the Scottish Coal Measures Group. The underlying geology of mudstone, siltstone and sandstone provided a stable foundation for these fortifications, which occupied a strategically important location on the frontier of Roman Britain. The site reflects the Roman military's presence in Scotland during the first and second centuries AD, when multiple phases of occupation and construction took place across the landscape.
