Cardrona Tower is a sixteenth-century fortified tower house located in Peeblesshire in the Scottish Borders. The structure represents a typical example of the defensive domestic architecture employed by Border families during the period of endemic raids and cross-border conflict that characterised the Anglo-Scottish frontier. The tower would have served as both a residence and a place of refuge for its inhabitants, with its robust stone construction providing protection against the threat of attack. Like many similar structures in the region, Cardrona Tower reflects the architectural responses of Border communities to the particular security challenges they faced during the early modern period.
