Cardryne Fort is an Iron Age fortification situated in Wigtownshire, in the south-west of Scotland, lying approximately 800 metres south-south-west of Cardryne itself. The fort occupies ground underlain by Hawick Group wacke, a hard sedimentary bedrock of Wenlock age that would have provided a stable foundation for construction.
Iron Age forts of this type typically date between the 8th century BC and the Roman period, functioning as defended settlements and centres of tribal authority.
