Castle Hill, Kirkton of Durris is a medieval motte located in Kincardineshire, Scotland. The earthwork comprises a prominent artificial mound typical of motte-and-bailey fortifications, a common form of Norman-influenced defensive settlement established in Scotland from the twelfth century onwards. Such mottes served as strongholds for territorial lords and representatives of royal authority during the medieval period. The site's survival as an upstanding archaeological monument preserves evidence of medieval settlement patterns and feudal land management in the Mearns region of Aberdeenshire.
