Cauldside Burn is a Bronze Age ceremonial site comprising cairns and a stone circle situated south-east of Cambret Hill in Kirkcudbrightshire. The monument lies on bedrock of the Hawick Group wacke, formed during the Wenlock period, geology typical of the southern uplands of Scotland. Such stone circles and associated burial cairns were constructed during the Bronze Age, roughly 3000 to 700 BC, when communities across Scotland marked significant ceremonial and burial locations with carefully placed stones.
The site's position in the upland landscape reflects Bronze Age settlement patterns in south-west Scotland, where such monuments often occupied prominent, naturally drained locations.
