Chichele College is a medieval college founded in 1422 by Henry Chichele, Archbishop of Canterbury, in the market town of Higham Ferrers in Northamptonshire. The college was established as an educational institution and served as a chantry, with buildings arranged around a quadrangle typical of collegiate foundations of the early fifteenth century. The surviving remains include substantial stone structures from the original medieval complex, though the site has experienced significant alteration and loss over subsequent centuries. As an early example of a provincial college foundation, Chichele College represents an important phase in late medieval institutional development outside the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
