Crail Airfield pillbox 300m east of Wormistone House is a concrete defensive structure erected during the Second World War as part of Britain's anti-invasion preparations. The pillbox represents one of numerous small fortifications constructed around RAF Crail and its associated airfield during 1940 and 1941 when German invasion was considered a credible threat to the east coast of Scotland.
