The site comprises the remains of a villa residence together with evidence of an associated field system situated approximately 450 metres east-north-east of Lodge Farm. The villa dates to the Roman period and represents the domestic establishment of a prosperous Romano-British landowner, with the field system indicating the agricultural infrastructure that supported the estate. The monument survives as upstanding and buried archaeological remains that contribute to understanding of rural settlement patterns and land use during the Roman occupation of Britain.
