Drumburgh Roman fort is a auxiliary fort constructed during the second century AD as part of Hadrian's Wall frontier system in Cumberland. Located between wall miles 76 and 77 near Burgh Marsh and Westfield House, the fort was built to house a military garrison and control movement along this section of the northern frontier of Roman Britain. The site occupies a strategic position overlooking the Solway Firth, and archaeological investigation has revealed the characteristic layout of a Roman auxiliary fort with its defensive ditches and internal structures. Though much of the fort now lies beneath modern ground levels and agricultural land, it remains an important archaeological monument testifying to the military organisation of Hadrian's Wall during the Roman occupation of Britain.
