Dunrobin Wood Broch is an Iron Age fortified circular stone tower located approximately 600 metres north-west of Dunrobin Mains in Sutherland, in the far north of Scotland. Brochs are characteristic defensive structures of the Iron Age, typically featuring thick double walls and internal galleries, and this example represents the distinctive architectural tradition of northern Britain during the first millennium BC. The monument survives as a substantial ruin within woodland, preserving evidence of its original stone construction and layout, though like many such structures it has undergone considerable degradation over the centuries. As part of the wider distribution of brochs across the Highlands and islands, Dunrobin Wood Broch contributes to our understanding of Iron Age settlement patterns and social hierarchies in prehistoric Scotland.
