Dunskey Castle is a late medieval fortress situated on the Rhinns of Galloway in Wigtownshire, southwestern Scotland. The castle dates from the fifteenth or sixteenth century and stands as a substantial stone structure of defensive design typical of the period, commanding a strategic position overlooking Portpatrick harbour. It represents the fortified residences built by prominent local families to protect their interests in this coastal region during a time of significant political and maritime activity. The remains survive as an important example of late medieval Scottish military architecture in the southwest of the country.
