Cairn Pat, also known as Piot Fort, is an Iron Age fortified settlement located in Wigtownshire, south-west Scotland. The site comprises a univallate or multivallate defensive earthwork typical of Iron Age hill-forts and duns of the region, constructed with stone and earth ramparts. Its position within the landscape reflects the settlement patterns and territorial organisation of Iron Age communities in south-west Scotland, a period spanning broadly from the 8th century BC to the Roman period. The fort remains an important archaeological record of pre-Roman settlement and defensive strategies in this part of Scotland.
