Float hut circle and enclosure is a post-medieval settlement site located in Wigtownshire, south-west Scotland, situated approximately 1050 metres west-south-west of a reference point now lost to historical record. The monument comprises a hut circle and associated enclosure, typical of the scattered pastoral settlements that characterised the upland margins of south-west Scotland during the early modern period. Such structures served as seasonal or permanent dwellings for herding communities exploiting the moorland grazing available in this landscape.
The site lies upon bedrock of the Gala Group, a wacke formation dating to the Telychian epoch of the Silurian period, which provides the underlying geology throughout much of Wigtownshire. This ancient metamorphic base would have offered limited agricultural potential, making the settlement's economy dependent upon livestock husbandry and transhumance practices suited to marginal upland terrain.
