Doon Castle is a broch situated near Ardwell in Wigtownshire, south-west Scotland. The monument dates to the Iron Age and represents one of the characteristic defensive or residential tower structures built in Scotland during the first centuries BC and AD. The broch survives as a circular stone-built structure, typical of its type, which would have comprised a hollow-walled tower with internal chambers and galleries within the thickness of the walls.
