Framside is a broch situated approximately 850 metres east of the Hills of Lieurary in Caithness, northern Scotland. This Iron Age fortified roundhouse dates to the later prehistoric period and represents the distinctive architectural tradition of brochs found throughout northern and western Scotland, typically constructed between the 1st century BC and 1st century AD. The monument survives as a substantial stone structure characteristic of broch design, with its circular drystone walls originally rising to considerable height. Like other brochs of the region, Framside would have served as a defensive and residential structure for a local elite family or community during the Iron Age.
