Garvalt dun is an Iron Age fortified settlement located in Argyllshire, south-west Scotland. The site consists of a dun, a characteristically Scottish form of defensive dwelling comprising a stone-built circular or oval structure with substantial walls, typical of settlements dating to the Iron Age period. Located approximately 500 metres south-west of Garvalt, the monument represents the domestic and defensive architecture of early historic communities in the Hebridean and west Highland regions. Such duns served as both residence and refuge for their inhabitants, reflecting the social hierarchies and territorial organisation of Iron Age Scottish society.
