Gillespie Moat is a medieval motte located in Parkmanse Garden, Lanarkshire, Scotland. The site represents a typical Scottish defensive earthwork of the twelfth or thirteenth century, comprising an artificial mound that would have supported a timber or stone structure within its summit. Such mottes served as local fortifications and centres of authority during the medieval period, reflecting the feudal organisation of the Scottish Lowlands. The survival of the mound within a garden setting provides evidence of medieval settlement and land use in this region of Lanarkshire.
