Green Castle is an Iron Age enclosure located 100 metres north-east of the Roman fort at Dunpapple in East Lothian, Scotland. The site occupies ground underlain by Gala Group wacke bedrock, characteristic of the Telychian period. The enclosure survives as an earthwork, its form and position revealing the Bronze Age and Iron Age settlement patterns of south-eastern Scotland.
The enclosure's proximity to the later Roman fort suggests continuity of significant land use in this strategically favourable location. The wacke bedrock of the Gala Group, whilst harder than surrounding sandstone, would have presented both challenges and advantages for Iron Age communities establishing fortified settlements.
