Hadrian's Wall in wall mile 4 is a section of the Roman frontier barrier constructed during the reign of the Emperor Hadrian in the second century AD, specifically built between approximately AD 122 and AD 128. This stretch of the wall, located between Crawhall Road and Jubilee Road in Northumberland, represents part of the most extensively preserved Roman military monument in Britain, which extended across the width of the island from the Solway Firth to the River Tyne. The wall at this location would have formed a defensive and administrative boundary of the Roman Empire, controlling movement between the occupied southern regions and the unconquered territories to the north. Surviving sections in this area preserve evidence of the wall's original stone construction and its integration into the broader system of forts, milecastles, and turrets that characterised the frontier installations.
