Hertfordshire Grim's Ditch is a linear earthwork and scheduled ancient monument consisting of a 210-metre section of ditch and bank situated northwest of Woodcock Hill in Hertfordshire. The work is believed to date to the Iron Age, forming part of a wider network of similar defensive or territorial boundaries that characterise the prehistoric landscape of the region. The surviving section preserves the characteristic form of a substantial ditch with an accompanying bank, evidence of the engineering effort expended on its construction and maintenance. Such linear earthworks served important functions in controlling movement across the landscape and may have demarcated territorial divisions between communities during the pre-Roman period.
