High Auchneel is an Iron Age fort situated in Wigtownshire, south-western Scotland. The site comprises a substantial defended enclosure positioned approximately 890 metres west-south-west of High Auchneel, characteristic of Iron Age settlement patterns in the region. The fort's defensive works and structural layout reflect the military and social organisation of Iron Age communities in south-western Scotland during the later prehistoric period. Like comparable contemporary fortifications in Galloway, the site represents evidence of the territorial control and settlement strategies employed by Iron Age populations prior to the Roman period.
