Lough Tamin crannog is an Early Christian artificial island settlement located in the townland of Ballymena, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The site represents a typical example of crannog construction, whereby a timber-built dwelling platform was deliberately constructed within a freshwater lough to provide defensive and practical advantages for settlement. The crannog dates to the Early Christian period, reflecting the widespread adoption of this settlement form across Ireland during the early medieval centuries. Though the original lough has since been drained, the crannog's archaeological remains, recorded under monument identification number 1658 in the Northern Ireland Sites and Monuments Record, continue to provide evidence of Early Christian settlement patterns and domestic life in Ulster.
