Meall Odhar shieling ground is a seasonal pastoral settlement located in Perthshire, Scotland, situated approximately 640 metres north-north-west of Meall Odhar. The site comprises the physical remains of temporary structures used during the medieval and early modern period for upland pastoral farming, when livestock were moved to higher ground during summer months. Shielings of this type represent an important economic practice across the Scottish Highlands, enabling the exploitation of upland pastures whilst maintaining permanent settlements in lower valleys. The archaeological evidence at this location reflects the long-standing tradition of transhumance practised by rural communities in the region, with the remains typically consisting of turf or stone foundations of bothies and associated pastoral infrastructure.
