Mid Hill is an Iron Age fort and settlement located 700 metres north-west of Adderstonshiels in Roxburghshire. The monument sits upon bedrock of the Hawick Group, a sequence of wacke deposits laid down during the Wenlock period of the Silurian. This geological foundation provided a firm base for the settlement's defensive structures, which date to the later prehistoric period when hilltop locations offered strategic advantage across the Scottish Borders landscape.
