History & significance

Minting Priory is a Benedictine priory of medieval foundation located in the parish of Minting, Lincolnshire. The priory was established in the twelfth century and remained an active religious house until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the sixteenth century. The surviving remains comprise earthworks and fragmentary stone structures which reflect the priory's monastic layout, though substantial ruins no longer stand above ground level. The site represents an important example of the religious foundations that characterised medieval Lincolnshire's ecclesiastical landscape.
