The site comprises a bank barrow, underground stone-built souterrains, and associated enclosure earthworks that date to the Iron Age period. The bank barrow represents a ritual or funerary monument characteristic of Iron Age communities in northern Britain, whilst the souterrains indicate settlement activity and storage practices typical of the same period.
