Myrton Tower is a late medieval defensive structure located within Monreith Park in Wigtownshire, south-west Scotland. The tower forms part of the scattered fortified settlements characteristic of the region during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, when such structures served the landed families of Galloway as both residences and symbols of local authority. The surviving remains demonstrate the modest but functional architecture typical of smaller Scottish tower houses of this period, constructed to provide secure accommodation and defence against the raids and territorial disputes common to the borderlands and south-west during the late medieval era.
