Netherton Cairn, located approximately 800 metres south-west of Netherton in South Lanarkshire, is a Bronze Age funerary monument comprising a circular mound of stones. The cairn represents the burial practices characteristic of the Bronze Age communities of central Scotland, a period during which inhumation beneath stone cairns was a widespread custom. The monument survives as a substantial earthwork, though like many cairns of this age it has been subject to antiquarian investigation and the depredations of time. Its survival within the landscape of Lanarkshire contributes to our understanding of prehistoric settlement patterns and funerary traditions in the upper Clyde valley.
