Oxton is a Roman fortlet and annexes located in Berwickshire, Scotland, situated approximately 230 metres north-north-east of Braefoot Cottage. The fortlet dates to the Roman period and represents a small military installation of the type commonly deployed across northern Britain during Rome's campaigns of conquest and consolidation. The site comprises the fortlet structure itself together with associated annexes, which would have functioned as support facilities for the garrison. Such fortlets were strategically positioned to control territory, maintain supply lines, and serve as bases for reconnaissance and military operations in the borderland region between the Tweed and the Scottish uplands.
